Aluminium triformate is an efficient mordant and crosslinking agent. It features good water solubility and thermal stability. Its structure contains multiple formate groups that can coordinate with dye molecules and fiber substrates, enhancing color fastness on natural textiles. In leather processing, it acts as a chromium-free tanning agent, improving leather softness and grain tightness. It is widely used in textile dyeing, papermaking, leather, and ceramic industries. It is a low-toxicity, high-performance auxiliary agent and has a good application prospect.

Mainly used as a mordant in textile dyeing, a chromium-free tanning agent in leather, and a paper wet-strength agent.
